FCC Awards $65M to promote the Affordable Care Act, but the ACP’s future remains uncertain

The FCC has awarded $65 million dollars to 177 organizations to help promote the Affordable Care Act, which provides subsidies to low income households for broadband service. The funds will be used as part of the FCC's National Competitive Outreach Program (NCOP) and Tribal Competitive Outreach Program (TCOP) to help reach communities that have a need for the ACP. Despite the funds for promoting the ACP, there is no plan at this time to extend the amount of ACP funds beyond what was initially allocated through the the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Based on current run rates, it looks like the ACP's funds may be depleted as soon as early 2024.
