Barry White ~ Can't Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe 1974 Disco Purrfection Version
Barry White gained a huge audience with his single"I'm Gonna Love You A Little Bit More" becoming his first R&B #1 but it stalled at #3 on the Hot100. "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe" became his second R&B #1 and his first #1 hit on the Hot100.
White wrote the song from his experiences with his wife, Glodean. "I'll hear somebody talk about their lady in a negative way, I'll turn it into a positive study. I'll hear you talk positive, turn yours into negative. That's what I usually do. This is the only song I wrote my experience with my wife."
During the recording process at Whitney Studios "We're all sitting in the studio, It's all cut. Everybody's listening and it's near lunch break time for an hour. Everybody's jumping up and down over this song. Everybody but me. And I'm sitting in the booth with Wah Wah Watson on one side and Ray Parker on the other, David T Walker was behind him and Wilton Felder was in the corner asked what Barry thought was wrong with the song. Barry replied "You go take your break. When you come back, we're gonna fix this song."
Barry didn't tell them what was wrong with the song even though he couldn't read music. When they got back, he told them that they were going to cut the track again. Barry changed the bassline instructions and had the drummer change his foot. Nobody except Barry noticed that those two elements were missing and that is when the band realized that Barry was intimately involved with the song on a spiritual level. They knew he was right and the new changes completed the song and was much better than the first take.
