NEW Car Warranty SCAM (888) 582-6870 Targeting Ford Maverick Owners #Shorts

If you have a 2022 Ford Maverick, there is a high possibility that you may receive a postcard in the mail telling you that your WARRANTY is about to expire or laps if you don't call (888) 582-6870! Something very peculiar about this postcard is that it does not have a company name, just a number. The postcard was sent using USPS permit number 5497 out of St. Louis, MO. By Business Media Corp., which supposedly has a Florida license #W411073.

The postcard reads in part - Out records indicate that you have NOT contacted us to update the factory warranty on your 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟐 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤. In order to guarantee its continued safe operation, CALL NOW at 1-888-528-6870. By neglecting to call now, you will be responsible for paying for all repairs out of pocket.

That sounded very suspicious since my 2022 Ford Maverick, which is 90 days old and does not even have 3000 Miles on the odometer, has a 3-year/36,000-mile 𝐛𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫-𝐭𝐨-𝐛𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐲 and a 5-year/60,000 drive train warranty. Because this is a NEW model, and even though the drive train and other parts have been in production for several years, I opted for the Ford factory extension, which covers the vehicle for 8 years/150,000 miles. In other words, everything this postcard with no name claims is 100% false. And a quick Google search confirmed my suspension, that being that this is yet another Car Warranty SCAM empowered by the FTC to target US consumers. I say empowered because although the FTC and many in government know this is a SCAM, they are still allowed to operate.

In my opinion, 99.9% of all extended warranties and service plans are not worth the paper they are printed on. Everything sound really good until you need to file a claim, at which time they will give you all kinds of run around. This is something my wife recently experienced with her FitBit. The smartwatch and health monitor burned her wrist within the first week of ownership. After a quick Google, she confirmed that many others are experiencing the same issue. After returning the product in its original package and ensuring it was delivered at the address they had provided, it took the company over 90-days to refund her money. After calling the customer service line, she was given the excuse "that they had to inspect the product before issuing a refund."

I am in my 50s, and this has been the same for every 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐲 I have ever purchased. I buy certain items with my Discover card because it allows me to issue a chargeback for any defective product, no question asked!

Regarding extended car warranties, I don't think they are worth it and should be avoided at all costs! If you have an older car, instead of paying somebody $400-500 dollars a year for repair insurance or car warranty, as they call it! Consider putting that money aside and trading it in after saving a few thousand, especially if the vehicle has a history of defects. However, in the case of an engine, transmission, ABS brakes, and others, always check for recall as many of these items with a history of failure may get replaced by the manufacturer at no cost. Another consideration is applying for a credit card and set it aside as a car warranty or repair cost! Today's vehicles are pretty dependable, unlike in the past. Don't allow 𝐂𝐚𝐫 𝐖𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐬 to intimidate you into something with little or no value.
