Samsung Gear VR Unboxing and Setup (Deep Dive)

Samsung launched the consumer Gear VR virtual reality headset on November 20th 2015 in North America with support from Oculus (now owned by Facebook). It was the third piece of hardware they released after the Note 4 Innovator Edition and S6 Innovator Edition. Priced at $99 this headset was bundled with fewer accessories but the design was refined and compatible with all of Samsung’s 2015 phones including the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge Plus and Note 5.

In this unboxing video I fasten the headset straps, talk about the weight savings and new face pad that is wider (allowing people with glasses to use it more comfortably). I also test it with an S6 and S6 Edge Plus by widening the interface. I go through the software download steps and setup process and actually show the on screen menus. I talk about some of my favorite apps in the Oculus store including Lands End and test the charging feature both while the headset is in use and while it is in sleep mode.
