Why you SHOULD Get 32GB of DDR4 RAM Instead of 16GB in 2020
Actual 2x16GB (32GB) memory overclocking on the Z490 Dark KP, up to 4700MHz+ CL18 daily stable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeZkSFx0JHg&t
DDR4 has been quite boring era when it comes to high-end memory options compared to good old DDR3 days. Since the launch of Samsung B-Die based DDR4 memory kits in early 2016 or very late 2015 we have been sticking around with those and mainly single sided kits, most often with 2x8GB options. 2x8GB has of course been the most affordable option compared to 2x16GB or 4x8GB, and the performance has been better due to much higher frequencies with similar timings compared to dual sided options.
Dual Rank or dual sided memory has always been better performing if the performance figures aka the dram frequencies and timings are close to same, and now we are seeing very interesting results with new G.Skill kits demoed by Dancop and K|NGP|N for example. In those most recent demos we can see how dual rank B-die can beat the absolute best single sided b-die that has been cooled with LN2, only on air cooling. If the situation is the at daily configurations which should be, there is not much reason to buy single sided DDR4 anymore, even from the performance point of view.
Leave a comment down below about what you think. Would you buy some of these new dual sided memories? I will be for sure, and probably some of those new Micron based ones as well.
