Testing Different Memory Speeds with my Best Skylake-X IMC - 4200MHz 12-11-11 on EVGA X299 DARK
Wanted to give one final test on the EVGA X299 DARK using my best Skylake-X IMC or the CPU that has the best memory controller so far. I was able to get to the OS as high as 4200MHz with 12-11-11 timings. Of course it wasn't fully stable as the CPU is running just on water, but it is still a very nice result anyways.
I then ran a range of different memory speeds and timing configurations ranging from 3733MHz with 11-10-10 timings all the way up to 4000+ with 12-11-11 timings. The difference in the actual performance is actually really small in the end. So far it seems that 3800MHz with 12-11-11 or 12-11-10 timings is the sweet spot across all of the X299 CPUs. You can obviously run 4000+ if you can maintain the same main timings and the tightest possible sub timings to maintain at least equal performance. If you have to sacrifice many of the sub timings to run 4000+ it is not often worth it.
