The Pregame Meal That Quietly Costs Soccer Players the Second Half

Why does my soccer player fade in the second half? Most athletes blame fitness. The bigger lever is what they ate three hours before kickoff. A salad with chicken, nuts and some cheese while common 'healthy' choices they are also high in fiber, higher in fat, and slow to digest. Research repeatedly shows that high fat and high fiber foods are slow-digesting which can leave fuel still locked up in the gut (not digested) at the first whistle. The pregame meal isn't a regular ‘healthy’ meal. It's a meal built for performance to help you move before kickoff.
