Why Athletes Under-Hydrate in Winter (And How It Hurts Performance)

Cold weather suppresses thirst, not fluid loss.

During winter training, athletes often under-hydrate without realizing it. Sweat is less visible, thirst cues are muted, and fluid losses through breathing and layered clothing are easy to miss. Even mild dehydration can impair focus, coordination, and recovery while increasing injury risk.
