Good sitting posture for meditation, the spine & pelvic tilt

What do we mean by a "neutral pelvis" and why is it essential for good posture?

In this video, we look at the details of this and the relevance for our spine.

When we slouch we come into a posterior pelvic tilt and lose the natural hollow in the low back (lumbar lordosis), this changes alignment through the whole length of the spine and results in poor head and neck posture, and even leads to tension headaches.

The opposite of this is an over-arch of the lumbar spine and anterior pelvic tilt.

Both postures can lead to a wide range of problems and finding a neutral position of the pelvis provides the foundations of good posture - one that is steady, responsive, and facilitates a healthy breathing pattern.
