Donkeys Fighting Pesticides
Cristina and her friends have created a refuge for native wildlife thought long gone from the area. Hedgehogs and native birds have come back, and the first harvest gifted them with organic grapes.
The work 'Mujeres por Doñana' does is ecological restoration. With no money other than small donations. Without any institutional support and with the opposition of big agricultural firms. They do it with their hearts.
We are starting to recognise the transformational value that grassroots work like theirs does. The alternative, let's be honest, is to keep spraying fruit and veg with poison.
