A Goat is Born
Hope Seed Farm Diaries - Vol.1
It's early spring, and the season of renewal brings to us a cute little goat that has just been born. But there's more. What can we learn from this experience? Here are ten minutes of baby goat meditation for you.
-------------------------------
Jarrod and the Hope Seed Farm crew are a beacon of a way of living where humans are an intrinsic element of a regenerative ecosystem.
Farmers have been and will be an essential part of human existence. Over the last hundred years, the industrialisation of farming has completely divorced their practices from the processes of ecology. Besides, it seems that growth, in volume produced and in land size, it's the only way forward for farmers these days. However, this has come to detriment of one often omitted victim: the farmer. With better machines, ample use of chemicals and specialisation of farms, fewer farmers are required to perform the same jobs today. This has led to the decline of the rural population in benefit of the city.
Therefore, Hope Seed Farm not only represents an attempt of bringing farming back to a wholesome point where animals, ecosystems and food lay in balance, but it also brings about the perhaps most crucial element of all: community.
Over the next few months, we'll be sharing visual and audio diaries of the life in this modern farm where nothing is new, nothing is being invented but recuperated.
