Andrews 'grasping for the Victorian whiskey' as business 'falls on its knees'
Liberal Senator Sarah Henderson says while Premier Andrews is “grasping for the Victorian whiskey” many businesses are “already on their knees” due to the extended lockdown and may never recover.
“This has been a very debilitating few months and of course it’s caused not just severe economic pain but severe mental health issues,” she told Sky News.
Ms Henderson acknowledged some “positive steps forward” had been made but said Victoria still had a “long way to go”.
“I’m not going for the top shelf as Daniel Andrews is yet. I think while he’s grasping for the Victorian whiskey, many families are still struggling to put corn flakes on the table.
“It should never have happened. The community transmission ran wild because of the breakdown in hotel quarantine.
Ms Henderson went on to condemn fines up to $10,000 which she described as “akin to a criminal penalty” and possible challengeable under the Victorian charter of human rights.
“These fines are completely disproportionate, they are unjustified and they need to be waived.”
