MELBOURNE REOPENS: Pubs, cafes and retail awaken after long hibernation

After 111 days and zero new infections or fatalities recorded on Monday, Premier Daniel Andrews is finally allowing Melbourne to reopen.

From 11:59pm on Tuesday, cafes, pubs, restaurants and retail can reopen and the rules limiting the public to only four reasons to leave home have been scrapped.

Beauty and personal services will resume along with restricted religious gatherings and weddings which will be allowed a maximum of 10 people and funerals which will be allowed 20 people.

Further restrictions will be eased at 11:59pm on November 8 when the 25 kilometre travel limit will be scrapped along with the regional ‘ring of steel’ and gyms will be allowed to reopen.
