Dom Puli 1911-1997 Interviewed by Barry York, St Albans Melbourne, 28 August 1984

Dom Puli was born at Birkirkara in Malta in 1911 and migrated to Australia in 1928 to join his brother Angelo at Mt Lyell in Tasmania. He later moved to Melbourne where he became a successful real estate agent in the western suburbs. He died in 1997.

The interview contains insights into the reasons for emigration, the conditions at Mt Lyell where many Maltese had previously worked in the copper mines and the Maltese communities in the western suburbs of Melbourne in the 1950s and 1960s when places like Sunshine and St Albans were known locally as 'Little Malta'.
