Waltzing Matilda episode June 1996 Malta

'Waltzing Matilda' began on television in Malta in 1994. Aired by Malta Public Broadcasting Services, each episode dealt with aspects of Maltese life in Australia.

The compere, Josephine Zammit Cordina, used to kindly sent me videotapes of any episodes in which I appeared, such as this one from June 1996.

I thank Josephine and Harry Zammit Cordina for permission to digitize and share the episodes.

This episode goes for 46 minutes and is historically interesting.

It features a report on the early plans to develop the Albion Switch Station into a Maltese cultural centre, which turned out to be very successful. Peter Paul Portelli is interviewed.

Other features in the episode are:
Maltese radio in Brisbane, Lucy Stewart interview, Peter Darmanin, Barry York, Hubert Opperman (1904-1996), amateur radio (Michael Xuereb) and also segment featuring Tony S. Mangion and Victor Borg (1941-2019).

I make no claim to ownership of the episode but share it in the interests of Maltese-Australian historical understanding.
