Eastern bluebird (Sialia sialis) pair at Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park
Bluebirds are such a part of American lore and so often represent happiness and promise and yet I've gone most of my life without ever encountering one. Fortunately, I recently discovered that they're much more common along the Gulf Coast of Florida than anywhere I've ever spent much time. They really are stunning and their behavior can be so comical, especially between a nesting pair like these two. The audio track, which replaces a lot of traffic noise, especially the annoying beeping of trucks backing up, is a portion of 24 Etudes for Flute, Op. 15 - VI. Moderato in B minor composed by Joachim Andersen, performed by Paolo Dalmoro and obtained from musopen.org. (https://musopen.org/music/26057-24-etudes-for-flute-op-15/) and is described as being free from copyright restrictions.
