California Condor (Gymnogyps californianus) 463 Soars over High Peaks
Another awful capture of a fleeting event. Three California condors (Gymnogyps californianus) - #463, #692 and #726 - passed over our heads at High Peaks in Pinnacles National Park and landed on massive stone outcroppings in the distance. I generally try to avoid showing any people, for privacy considerations, but in this case I included them because for a brief flash you can see the shadow of condor 463 darkening the path of the bird. In my limited condor-viewing experience, I've noticed that often I will see the enormous shadows moving across the terrain well before I've managed to spot the enormous birds casting them. This shaky video is at 40% speed so that there's at least a bit more than a glimpse of the birds flying over and by.
