How to Replace a Furnace Filter

Why do you need to change a furnace filter??? If you don't, dust builds up on the old filter, making your furnace work harder, and it will work less efficiently, raising your heating bill. Also, ultimately this reduces the life of your furnace.

Replacing a furnace filter is an incredibly simple job that any homeowner can do! Be sure to change your furnace filter at the scheduled interval and regularly!

The furnace filter is located between the air return from your house and the burner, also known as the heater, also known as the furnace.

Just open the furnace filter housing plate. Some slide, some have screws holding them in place.

Pull the old filter out.

Slide the new filter in. If you don't know the size of the replacement filter, simply measure the distance from the front to the back of where the filter sits and measure the distance from the top of the filter to the bottom. Then replace it with an exact filter.

The filters have different capacities of filtering ability from high filtration to low filtration.

The filter package will tell you how often to replace the filter. The replacement interval varies from one month to one year, depending on the specific filter.
