How to Grill Multiple Foods
In this video, How to Grill Multiple Foods, home renovation brothers Dave and Rich give you 3 great tips so you can grill a ton of food for a large group and not burn a single item!
Tip # 1: If you will be gilling several items, grill the least greasy foods first and the most greasy foods last. The grease can cause flareups, so by grilling them last, this will reduce the build up of grease until the end.
Tip # 2: Should you leave the grill open or closed? Lots of debate about this. We have found that if the food you are gilling is over an inch thick, close the grill. If the food is less than an inch thick, keep the grill open. When the grill is closed the heat builds up tremendously, which can burn thin food. Keeping the grill open provides less heat and you can keep an eye on how the food is doing.
Tip # 3: Keep detailed notes while grilling!!! This is really the key to successfully grilling multiple foods! It is the best way to remember exactly when to turn each food.
Grilling is quite time sensitive. If you leave food on even for a few minutes too long you run the risk of burning it.
Simple write down each item you will grill, the time you place it on the grill, and each time you turn the food.
Before you grill you need to know exactly how long to grill the food per side.
Here are our guidelines:
We cook everything on medium heat
Corn in the husk:
place it and turn it 3 times, so you will grill 4 sides, grill 4 minutes per side
Chicken, fish, hamburger:
about 6 - 7 minutes per side
Brats:
place it and turn it 3 times, so you will grill 4 sides, grill 4 minutes per side
Steak:
6 -7 minutes per side, but it could vary depending on if a person wants rare, medium, or well done
Vegetables:
Varies, grill approximately 15 minutes, stir often so they don't burn
