How to Build a Concrete Step

In this video, home renovation brothers Dave and Rich show you how to build a concrete step.

To make a concrete step you need to build a form out of wood. This form must be completely supported on all sides because the weight of the concrete could break the form open.

Next, it is a good idea to add rebar to support the concrete step. You can drill down into the area below the step and insert the rebar into the holes. Bend them over to cover different areas of the step.

After that it is time to mix up the concrete and shovel it into the wooden form until the form is completely filled.

Use a piece of wood to level out the top of the concrete.

Finish the step by raking a broom over the step to create small ridges which will provide traction in rain or snow.
