Minimal packing for a Polar Expedition

Ben Saunders gives a fascinating insight into how and why he's fastidious about minimising weight on a polar expedition. He's goes to the extremes of cutting labels out of clothes, edges off packets and even the handle off his toothbrush to keep the load down. Packing for the Scott Expedition will be no exception.

In October 2013 Ben Saunders is departing on arguably the most ambitious polar journey in history - an 1800 mile unsupported return journey from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole retracing Captain Scott's footsteps.

It will be the longest unsupported polar journey in history and first time Scott's route is completed.
