It is always important for me to have fun when creating ART. That is all there is to it.

My style is "do whatever I want style."

Portraits are hard especially for Artists who don't have a lot of experience with drawing. When I was teaching painting/charcoal portraiture in His Art Gallery (Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija), it is a must to use grids. Because it is easier that way. But I have been using grids all my life that I am bored to death by it (and portraits too). I started painting freehand without caring for the result. Adjusting by painting over dried paints if I need to. But most importantly, by giving my eyes a break every now and then.

The paints I used for flesh tones are red + white for pink, add a little bit of yellow to make it fleshy. I used sap green and Thalo blue for background, gold for the monstera leaves. I mixed red and blue with a little bit of yellow for the blacks (sometimes, Payne's gray, sometimes just pure red+blue), sometimes I mix white with burnt amber mixed with fleshy pink for skin tones. I blend them all fast while wet, but if they are dry I use a dry brush technique or just smudge it with my finger, or thinned paint with water to make a wash. Do not worry about the end result. Have fun with the process.

Frida Kahlo is an inspiration. If I ever am in her shoes, I want all her courage and inspiration to be able to paint while being bed bound.
