Rhomboid Major and Minor Anatomy and Best Stretches For Tightness, Soreness and Upper Back Pain.

In todays video we are talking about the Rhomboid Major and Minor Muscles, we go through where they are located and what they do as well as some of the best stretches to specifically target these muscles.

The Rhomboids are two muscles - Rhomboid Major & Rhomboid Minor. The two rhomboids lie deep to trapezius to form parallel bands that pass inferolaterally from the vertebrae to the medial border of the scapula. Rhomboid Major is thin and flat and twice as wide as the thicker Rhomboid Minor which lies superior to it. Usually there is a small space between both rhomboid muscles, however in some cases one may find one single blended muscle instead.

What causes rhomboid muscle pain?

You may develop rhomboid muscle pain as a result of:

Poor or incorrect posture

Sitting for extended periods

Injuries from straining, overstretching, or tearing the muscles
sleeping on your side

Overuse of the rhomboid muscle can lead to pain in the shoulders and arms.

Sports such as tennis, golf, and rowing can cause pain in this area.

Activities and work that require you to extend your arms over the head for a long time, carrying heavy bags and backpacks, and lifting heavy objects can also cause this type of pain.
