Criticism of 82 per cent renewables is no longer a ‘fringe’ view
The Australian’s environment editor Graham Lloyd says criticism of the 82 per cent renewable energy agenda is no longer a “fringe” view.
“Really this view that the 82 per cent renewables agenda is running off the rails has gone from being on the fringe to being the thing that everybody in the industry is talking about,” Mr Lloyd told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
His remarks come as energy prices soar across Australia.
“And Boral – that big industrial company in Australia – they were saying they are now finding it cheaper to shut down production at times of high energy prices than to push through,” Mr Lloyd said.
“So it’s cheaper to have their workers sitting around doing nothing than it is to harness their output because of the electricity price.”
