Abacus that Hakka people love to eat.
Abacus seeds (算盘子 Suan Pan Zi) or i is an auspicious dish that is popularly served among the Hakka people during the lunar new year as the ROUND yam abacus has a clear symbolic meaning of reunion and represents wealth and prosperity.
It was assigned the name abacus seeds because it resembled the seeds in an abacus. It also has a clear symbolic meaning: MONEY is abundant!
古早味 客家算盘子
Traditional Hakka Abacus Seeds
♦️Recipe 食谱
▶️ Abacus Seeds 算盘子
- Cooking oil 食油
- Shallots 红葱 1 pcs
- Yam 芋头 250g
- Water 清水 200ml
- Tapioca flour 木薯粉 100g
- Cooking oil 食油 75ml
▶️ Side Ingredients 配料
- Cooking oil 食油
- Shallots 红葱 2pcs
(diced 切丁)
- Dried shrimp 虾米 30g
(soaked and diced 浸软切丁)
- Shiitake mushrooms 香菇 4 pcs
(soaked and diced 浸软切丁)
- Pinch of Salt 少许盐
- Minced meat 肉碎 40g
- Pinch of pepper powder 少许胡椒粉
- Light soy sauce 酱清 2 tbsp
- Spring onions 青葱
做法:
1. 用油爆香蒜米后,将切片的芋头放入锅中加水炒再盖上盖子煮大约十分钟至熟。
2. 把煮好的芋头压碎,加入木薯粉,乘热把它们混合均匀揉成光滑的面团。
3. 用手将面团揉搓成小小的圆面团状,再用手指按中间变成凹洞即可,大约是算盘子大小的形状。
4. 锅中水沸腾后,放入成形的算盘子,煮至浮上水面,捞起浸泡一下冷水,滤干后放在盘子中。
5. 将油和蒜米爆香待用。
6. 将红葱碎爆香,加入虾米和香菇碎,继续爆香,加入肉碎,继续翻炒。
7. 加入少许胡椒粉,继续翻炒,加入酱清,继续翻炒。
8. 最后倒入算盘子,翻炒均匀即可上桌。
9. 洒上爆香的蒜米和青葱。
