Germany Reopens Embassy in Syria After a Decade

Germany has reopened its embassy in Syria after a decade, with a small diplomatic presence currently in Damascus. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock instructed the reopening, which was shut down following Bashar al-Assad's government's collapse in 2012. For security reasons, consular services will be partially conducted from Beirut. Germany is still committed to assisting a stable Syrian future and will engage in rebuilding diplomatic relations. Both Qatar and Turkey also reopened their missions previously.
