Hi, I'm Matt at etrailer. Today, we are gonna be talking about the Westin Hard Fold-Up Tonneau Cover on the back of our 2026 GMC Sierra 1500. So let's take a closer look at it. So with tonneau covers, one of the big benefits of getting them is gonna be, one, a nice look to the back of your truck, but also it's gonna be keeping out the elements from getting on your gear or your items in the back of your bed. Now, when it comes to a hard tonneau cover, like the one we have today, this is actually gonna give us security from any would-be thieves as well, 'cause someone can come over here, cut this open, 'cause this is gonna be very stout. And one of the things I really like about this one is it's very easy to use and again, I do like the look of this one, being a little bit more low profile compared to some other options out there.

But let me kind of walk through what it's like to actually use. So the only way to get in here is by opening up your tailgate. And yes, you can open up the whole gate or if you have the MultiPro Tailgate, just press that button on the very top and open up that way. Now I did have a little bit of resistance with this weather stripping here, but, you pull on it a little bit more and it'll open right up. And then we will have access to these little triggers on either side.

So squeeze those together, it's kind of a pinching style, and this will fold up a few times. You will have to do this with each panel. And this one compared to other hard ones actually folds up all the way against our cab. So one of the things you lose out on is that's gonna be blocking what you see at the back of your vehicle. You can just leave it in the down position too.

You're gonna have some buckles that you can secure right here. But, I wanna show you guys what it looks like all the way folded up. So just squeeze this last one, push it up like that. And then I'm gonna grab one of these rods to secure it in place and we'll have another one on the other side. In this position, this is gonna give us a lot more bed space.

So I actually wanna get a measurement to see how much room is taken up here at the moment. So right now this is just a tiny bit over four inches inside our bed. So that's gonna save you a lot of room. And for the space underneath here, this is gonna be the same no matter how far out this is gonna be sitting. Right now we're sitting at about 22 1/2 inches. So definitely keep that in mind if you have any accessory items, fifth wheels, anything like that back here, make sure you do have enough clearance. I also wanna get the height of this to see how high it's sitting. In this position, we are gonna be at about 23 inches. And what that's gonna look like compared to our cab is just a difference of roughly three inches. So it's not gonna be that much higher than the actual cab of your truck. So I'm gonna put this down and we can see how much room it takes up when we have that panel in the down position. And this is going to be roughly about 26 inches. So that's definitely gonna be a big difference as opposed to when we have this folded up. So it's really gonna depend on how or what you're hauling. So if you have something back here you need to keep a close eye on it, you'd probably wanna keep this down. But if you need to maximize what you're putting back here, I'd recommend putting it up. Another big part of a tonneau cover is keeping the elements out. So we're gonna have this larger seal that goes over our bulkhead. There's also gonna be a foam strip that goes underneath here. So if you have a gap, kind like we like we have here, it'll still prevent water from entering. And if you wanna be extra safe about it, it is gonna come with some butyl tape that you can stuff in there. While it's gonna have this weather stripping that goes across the side, this is gonna be connected to the actual panels right here. It's gonna have some grooves to keep water from getting through. And we're also gonna have a little bit of rubber underneath those rails themselves. But if water does somehow get into this rail, this water will be able to lead right out of here. And there's gonna be some tubing, I'll fold this up real quick, right inside of here, and that water will be able to escape and not really fall into the bed. Speaking to these rails, this is gonna be a pretty s
