Hi, I'm Daniel with etrailer, and today we're gonna take a look at, I'm gonna show you how to install the Roadmaster InvisiBrake on our 2025 Ford Maverick. When flat towing, there are gonna be five main components to make up your setup. Starting here at the vehicle side is gonna be your base plate, then your tow bar, your safety cables, your wiring, and your braking system. Some other things you will need with the Ford Maverick is going to be a charge line kit, and all that's gonna do is trickle charge your battery from your motorhome so you don't arrive to the campsite with your battery dead. And most braking systems are gonna be reliant on that battery, so you will need that. Now another thing you're gonna need is gonna be a brake light switch kit, and that's basically gonna give you a live brake light wire that you can tie into for your indicator light for this braking setup.
But in this video, we are gonna be talking about the braking system, and ours is the InvisiBrake. And as you can see, the maverick does have a compartment under here. That's where we mounted the main unit. All the braking system really is, is gonna be a device that attaches to your brake pedal. It's gonna break your towed vehicle when you brake in your motorhome.
Now it's gonna be required, so you're definitely gonna need one. This one's really nice because it is all hidden as opposed to some of those drop-in units that you have to set up every time. And once you do set it, you can forget it because it's ready to go. To dial in your brake pressure, you have a knob, and you can add or decrease that. Now because this is a hybrid, I would recommend starting at around 15 to 20 PSI and then testing 'em out.
And if you need to dial it up, just slowly go up until those work. Something else that comes in your kit is an indicator light. So you can mount that anywhere on your dash. And I'll hit the brakes. As you can see, it's lighting up, meaning the brakes are being applied in our towed vehicle.
So this is pretty nice, just so you know that they're being applied and everything's working properly. There's also a speaker attached to this. So if the brakes are applied too long, then that speaker will sound and you know there's an issue. This kit will come with everything you need to get this installed with a breakaway switch as well. So this is just there. So if you have a catastrophic disconnect, for whatever reason, this is gonna pull and then it'll apply your brakes. So this doesn't go rolling down the highway. Now, if you have any further questions about this kit or any other braking set up or anything about your flat tow setup, please feel free to reach out and we'd be happy to point in the right direction. As far as getting this braking system installed, it is pretty labor-intensive, there is a lot of wiring, a lot of mounting, and takes a bit of time. So if you don't have the time or tools to do this yourself, please check out dealer locator. We can find a professional in your area to get this installed for you. But if you wanna do it yourself, follow along and we'll walk you through the process. To start off the installation, it's a good idea to find a location to mount our main unit. So in the Maverick here, I check behind the rear seat. I'm just gonna open this up. And there's quite a few cargo compartments in here. It looks like right in the center is a good spot to mount our InvisiBrake. I've already checked to see if this will shut properly, and it will. There's a couple different orientations. I just made sure the knob is gonna be accessible. So it looks like from the passenger's side, our neighbor can access that. And then all of our connection points will be on this side. Now I'm getting this attached is I'm using some hook-and-loop and just sticking it on. There is some tabs on the end for screws. I just bent those out of the way, so we can get this to fit a little better. I'm gonna line this up and stick that down. You want enough room for your knob adjustments. Looking good there. We're gonna to run all of our wires for our main unit to our brake pedal and some of 'em to our engine bay. So we're gonna have to remove some of these trim pieces. So I've already removed this one, but I use a trim panel tool, kind of p pride it und
