Hey there, if you we inchesre wondering how the Saris tailgate pad fits on a compact truck, well, this is a look at our small tailgate pad on a 2022 Ford Maverick. Now, some people doubted it's fit simply because it's gonna be a smaller truck bed and a smaller tailgate, but I fit my mountain bike on here. Now, yours might fit, yours might not. So we're gonna take a look at some of the measurements to make sure you get the right fit for you and your Ford Maverick. First, think about your bike's length. Since a Maverick has a 4 1/2-foot-long bed, that might not be enough length for your longer bikes.

Now, my small-frame mountain bike is totally fine. And since our kind of cover here can fold up, we have pretty much full use of our truck bed space. But where you need to measure isn't potentially your full-wheel base, but really only from your frame to the end of your tire. That's because your front tire is gonna sit over your tailgate. The way the Saris tailgate pad secures your bike is you have your frame, there's a cushion up top for the top part, and it comes down, and your bike is secured by a strap.

Now, if you needed to take the bike off, it's simply a buckle. You remove the buckle and then you are able to remove your bike. So if you wanna double-check if your bike is gonna fit, go ahead and measure from your frame up by near your handlebars to the furthest point of your tires, and if that's within a 4 1/2 feet, then you're good to go. This tailgate pad is designed to be able to carry up to five bikes. You flip this cover over, secure that, and then you stack the bikes up all up to each other.

So if all of five bikes were shaped kind of like mine, then you would be clear. If not, then you'd have to double-check those pedals. My tip to help out is, if you can move the furthest bike's pedals up so that it can clear the wheel well when you put it up against the truck bed, you'll still be able to line the bike up with that furthest cradle and have clearance all around to secure the bike. So if any of my friends we inchesre to ask if this would work for their Ford Maverick, those are really the most important things that I'd want them to think about, if their bikes are gonna fit in terms of the length as well as the side in their truck bed. But if they do fit, then you would be able to carry one or even five bikes on this truck.

In fact, this fits really nicely on our Maverick. The Saris tailgate pad has some really good cushions, really good material. It has packets for your biking gear. It has this flap that opens up to give you access to the handle. When you cover it, it's all nice and sleek. It sits low enough where you actually still have visibility of your backup camera right underneath the emblem. So the Saris emblem goes over the Ford emblem, but then you have visibility of that backup camera, which is awesome. Now, if you have this loaded up with bikes, that's gonna cover it, but the fact that you can load up to five bikes in your compact truck is pretty cool.
