MICHAEL BUBLE & SHARON JONES Baby You've Got What It Takes

I will always have Michael Buble to thank for this track introducing me to the amazing Sharon Jones who sadly passed away long before she should have - in late 2016. I had been a big Buble fan, but upon hearing this classic pop song (i had a version of it in my collection - by Martha Davis & Ivan Neville), I was asking 'Who is this Sharon Jones?'. Between hearing this in 2010 and her passing, I obtained as many of her recordings - mostly with the fabulous Dap Kings and was really struck by her battle with cancer and that although she seemed to have it licked, it came back and tragically the great Sharon Jones left the building in November of 2016 at the age of 60. She left behind a glorious discography, with that big ol voice and that soulful feel to her choices and that mighty band of musicians that flanked her. 'Baby (You've Got What It Takes) is a late 1950's penned hit; made famous first by Dinah Washington & Brook Benton in early 1960. I have a version of the great Martha Davis (of the 80's band The Motels) and the luminous Ivan Neville already on my channel. I love Buble and Sharon together - sheer showbiz magic - charm, soul and vigour! Thank you Sharon Jones for your mighty spirit!
