SUPPORTING ACTRESSES: The Overflow CLAIRE FOY

With the 95th Academy Awards next week, I am celebrating some of the unheralded actresses from this past season. Whilst the five women who did receive nods for Supporting Actress: Jamie Lee Curtis, Angela Bassett, Stephanie Hsu, Kerry Condon and Hong Chau were deserving, there were at the very least another five who were in the running. So I have prepared clips for them.

Claire Foy is best known around the world for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in 'The Crown' but Ms Foy has been building quite the filmography the last decade. I have used various sequences from her movies but of course her recognition this year SHOULD have been for her fierce performance in Sarah Polley's blistering 'Women Talking'. There were so many great actresses in that film, but it was egregious that Claire and co-star Jessie Buckley (already posted here) were overlooked. But I have no doubt that Claire Foy will be a fixture of prestige movies for decades to come. Musically I have used Canadian rocker Serena Ryder and her anthemic 'What I Wouldn't Do' to illustrate just how splendid this British actress is.
