Two Analysts with ITIF Recommend a $1,200 per Location BEAD Limit

Two analysts with the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF) are recommending that any state BEAD plan that includes a per location figure higher than $1,200 be rejected by the NTIA. They want the Extremely High Cost per Location Threshold (EHCPLT) adjusted to that amount. They make the argument that spending more than that on fiber deployments would be a waste of money that could be applied toward affordability programs, and technologies like Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite service such as from Starlink, or Fixed Wireless service, should be deployed in those high cost areas. #BEAD #satellite #high-cost
