How to make Chocolate Lava Cake | Chocolate Fondant
This divine chocolate dessert has a prep time of just 15 minutes, and you can get it on the table (or in your mouth) in under 30 minutes, from start to finish.
Chocolate Molten Lava Cake Recipe (Makes 5)
Ingredients :
250g Dark Chocolate
125g Butter
3 Whole Eggs
3 Egg Yolks
1 tsp Vanilla
60g Plain Flour
150g Icing Sugar
1/4 tsp Salt
Methods :
1. Preheat oven to 210C
2. Generously butter 5 ramekins, and dust them with cocoa powder. Set aside until needed
3. Place butter and chocolate in a large microwave-safe bowl. Melt the ingredients in the microwave in 30 seconds increments, while stirring in between. You can also melt the butter and chocolate in a double boiler
4. Add the eggs, yolks and vanilla, and whisk them well
5. Sift the flour and icing sugar through a sieve into the butter-chocolate mixture and stir them well
6. Pour the batter into the prepared ramekins. Make sure they are no more than ¾ of the way full, since they will rise as they bake. If you're not baking the cakes right away, cover the ramekins with plastic wrap and freeze/refrigerate for later
7. Place the ramekins on a baking tray and bake at 210C for 14-16 minutes. I bake mine for 14 mins.
(Baking time will change depending on the size of the ramekins and type of moulds used)
8. When the cakes are done, remove them from the oven, and let them rest for about 30 seconds
9. Using a towel/cloth napkin, turn the cakes out onto serving plates
10. Serve immediately while the cakes are still warm
11. Dust the cakes with confectioner's sugar, and serve with berries and vanilla ice cream
