Wood Poppy (Stylophorum diphyllum)
Among my favorite woodland wildflowers are poppies, and one of my top pops is Wood Poppy (Stylophorum diphyllum). With large, four-petaled flowers, Wood Poppy (Stylophorum diphyllum) is a very showy wildflower blooming in the eastern North American temperate forest.
Ranging from southern Ontario down to Georgia and west to Michigan and Missouri, this is a beautiful plant that should be grown more as a native perennial ornamental. It readily grows from seed, is deer resistant, adaptable and will slowly spread over time. For these same reasons it is a valuable plant for use in habitat restoration efforts also.
