2020 Presidential Election Results So Far | Trump vs Biden | QT Politics

The results for the election 2020 presidential race are still out, at the time of this recording. A number of critical states, like Nevada, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia, North Carolina and Michigan are still counting votes, and these battlegrounds will almost certainly determine the winner of the presidential election. I should also note that even where we have projected winners—these are actually still just projections, not official results: we don't have official results on election night, and we never have. The official results don't exist until states certify them, which will be weeks from now.

Still, long before the most critical battlegrounds were even projected, both presidential candidates, Joe Biden, and Donald Trump, decided to come out, speak to their supporters, and make claims about what the election results will be.

Biden's tone was mainly reasonable—claiming not that he will win the election, but that he is optimistic. But, he was by any measure far too resolute about his standing in Pennsylvania.

When he said that, and still at the time of this recording, Trump is leading in that state. This is certainly at least in part due to the blue shift effect—that is, mail in votes, which are likely to lean toward Biden, are voted later in this state. Still, the claim that he will win the state is completely unsubstantiated.

Thankfully, Biden did reinforce that every vote should be counted. And it's only then that we'll actually know the results for certain.

Trump, on the other hand, took it a step further. He claimed not only that he is likely to win in the states where he is currently enjoying a lead. He also declared victory.

Trump's declaration of victory is not based in reality.

In this video, I will talk about the projected results so far for the 2020 presidential election, and analyse the potential paths to victory still available for both candidates. I cannot, based on current figures, tell you who will win. But I can answer this question:

What's more likely?
