STORYLINE:
Humanitarian aid was delivered to Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis on Saturday as the Israeli bombardment of the Gaza Strip intensified.
"From the Egyptian people to the Palestinian people" was emblazoned on the sides of the aid packages that contained water.
The delivery came after a large convoy of trucks carrying aid into the Gaza Strip was seen on Friday entering through the Rafah crossing on the border of Gaza and Egypt.
Israel has allowed more than 260 trucks carrying food and medicine through the crossing, but aid workers say it’s not nearly enough.
Israeli authorities have refused to allow fuel in.
US and Arab countries have recently stepped up diplomatic efforts to ease the siege of the territory and bring about at least a brief stop to the fighting to help civilians.
The Palestinian death toll in the Israel-Hamas war has reached 9,448, according to the Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza.
In the occupied West Bank, more than 140 Palestinians have been killed in violence and Israeli raids.
The UNRWA says 72 of its staff members have been killed.
More than 1,400 people in Israel have been killed, most of them in the Oct. 7 Hamas attack that started the fighting, and 242 hostages were taken from Israel into Gaza by the militant group.
The Gaza Strip is an area of about 140 square miles (225 sq km) and 2.3 million people at the border of Israel and Egypt on the Mediterranean Sea.
One of two Palestinian territories along with the West Bank, it is one of the most densely populated and impoverished areas in the world.
