Person of the Week: Alice Bradley
MACON COUNTY, N.C. -- A mountain school bus driver will be honored soon for her bravery.
What our Person of the Week Alice Bradley did in the face of danger a couple of weeks ago was nothing short of remarkable.
Affectionately called Ms. Ab, she's been doing driving buses for 25 years.
But earlier this month, this grandmother faced the threat of death. It happened as she pulled up to prepare the bus.
"I noticed there were two people standing right here," Alice said. "And he held up the gun like this and pointed it at me."
"These individuals attempted to get on her bus, she made a conscious decision to keep that from happening," Macon County Sheriff Robbie Holland said.
Alice recalls the moment she realized what was in danger.
"Lord, he's gonna shoot me. Then I said 'oh, no, my kids are gonna be here in a minute,' so I guess I took off after him," Alice said.
But she didn't just go after them
