Build muscle and stay fuller for longer: protein and fibre #food #lunch #healthyrecipes
Lunchtime at Nutrify HQ ⏰🍍
Today’s lunch: beef patties and beans 🫘.
Specifically, homemade pinto beans.
One of my favourite things about using (and building) Nutrify is learning about different foods.
Turns out pinto beans are one of the highest fibre containing beans.
And when dry they’ve got as much protein as steak with 23.7g/100g (I said 27g in the video, this was wrong). This number goes down slightly when cooked due to the water absorption of the bean.
If you’re working out, you’ll want to increase your protein intake to help with muscle building and repair.
Doing so has the added benefit of helping you stay fuller for longer.
And fibre aids in digestion.
So we combine beef patties (high in protein) and cooked pinto beans (good source of protein/fibre) for the best of both worlds.
We keep the overall dish simple to avoid the post-lunch food coma.
No more than 3-4 handfuls of food (2 beef patties + 1 handful of beans).
A little extra virgin olive oil (healthy fats, plenty of antioxidants) and sea salt over the beans to taste.
And a side of @undividedfoodco The Good Fat spicy aioli, our favourite line of sauces.
They use olive oil in their recipes rather than processed seed oils (canola, sunflower, vegetable, etc).
In summary: protein rich, fibre rich, good fats, good tastes, not too much.
