Woodturning bow ties - a World first for the most difficult segmented vase project
Woodturning bow ties - a World first for the most difficult segmented vase project! Bow ties that overlap into adjacent layers make assembly of segmented vases vastly more difficult as woodturning ideas go.
I can understand why no-one would ever use bow ties in a building block project, but I think on small scale projects bow tie building blocks look fantastic, especially when woodturning epoxy as transparent mortar. I think this is a world first woodturning segmented vase with bow ties.
I was inspired by a piece that Maxim Koslov did for a light shade, but he used spaced rectangular pieces: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0WP8u9cw90. So I used bow ties or dutchman joints, or butterfly joints or Nakashima joints - whatever you call them, I guess the question is whether they are truly joints when used as the primary building block?
When blending wood and epoxy resin I'm not sure where the demarcation lies to call something resin art, but this is a useful and exciting venture in using more interesting geometrical shapes when woodturning resin art.
