Failure to Launch: Parenting Style Mismatch

Difficulties are common at the transition from dependent adolescence to independent adulthood, and parents often blame themselves for failing to prepare their offspring for the wider world. Their sense of guilt almost always leads them to do precisely what will make the situation worse. In many cases there has simply been a mismatch between the parenting style (which might have worked well with other offspring) and the nature of this particular young person.
