Leonhard Emil Bach: Frühlings-erwachen (Spring's Awakening)
Phillip Sear plays a 'Romanze', probably by the German composer Leonhard Emil Bach (1849-1902).
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This once-popular piece was once attributed to Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach - but unless he time-travelled to the era of Weber, this seems extremely unlikely. The publisher Schott recently published a flute arrangement of this piece and gave its authorshipt to Leonhard - so who am I to argue? Another piece of his was once attributed to CPE's brother Wilhelm Friedmann, so maybe this helped with sales.
My thumbnail features some cowslips, which I saw at Wakehurst Place, Sussex in early April, 2021.
