Did you know that the word “solo” is NOT what you think in Italian?

In Italian, “solo” means “only, alone and just” (Pretty impressive for SOLO one word)

The English “solo” translates into Italian as “Solista” (solo performer) or “assolo” (solo performance).

The word “manager” is borrowed from English into contemporary Italian too! However, it comes from the Italian word “maneggiare” which used to refer to horse stables but nowadays means “to handle”. There are traces in modern Italian of this ancient meaning in the word “maneggio” which literally means “horse stable”.
