What is MATURITÀ in Italy? (and WHY is it SO Stressful?)

Have you heard of 'maturità' ?

If you ask any Italian adult about their most stressful moments, many will bring up the Maturità - end of high school exam (literally maturity).

Each June, students in their last year of scuola superiore (high school), must take a series of exams to see if they graduate.

The tests consist of 2 written exams, one covering Italian literature and one covering the subject focused on in school, like science or languages. Then there's an oral exam covering all the subjects taught.

Before the official studying begins, seniors will have a last relaxation day called 100 giorni - 100 days. On that day, students about to start studying for the maturità can unofficially skip class!

Don’t worry, though! Getting good grades and participating in extracurricular activities can help students build credits which help their overall score.

Would you be able to handle the maturità?Let me know in the comments👇💬
