Italy’s families are changing!
For many years, the typical Italian family consisted of a working father and a stay-at-home mother who took care of the kids. Working mothers weren’t unheard of, but they were far from the norm, but that’s changed. Here are 3 reasons why!

1. Women have more job opportunities now. For a long time, nurses and teachers were the top jobs a woman could get. Since there wasn’t much of a career ladder to climb, staying at home to raise the kids was a no-brainer.

2. Economics. Italy’s economy has been tough for a few years. So, in many cases, families need two incomes to make ends meet, especially once kids are in school.

3. Family changes. Since the 1970s, Italy’s divorce rate has slowly gone up. So, more moms are finding themselves needing to be the primary providers for their children.
