Production Strong, Cortex 2.0 Steel Assembly & Transformers! 14 May 2025 Giga Texas Update (07:35AM)

Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and in 2025, the Next Generation Car(s), Cybercab & the Optimus Robot!

Nice morning to fly, a little windy, but otherwise not too bad and we get to see a lot more interesting developments around the site today, especially the arrival of even more Transformers on the West side, the Cortex 2.0 facility’s rapid steel assembly, new trailers to relocate Tesla’s temporary offices, and a lot more!

In the video introduction, we continue Part 2 of the Permits discussion, with many very interesting projects either underway or coming in the near future!

The first set of permits we discuss has to do with several new trailers that have arrived and were being placed on the E5 (East #5) parking lot … this has seven associated permits which are to allow Tesla temporary office relocations from the trailers located near the electrical switchyard … this relocation is necessary to allow construction to expand into the area where the old temporary trailers were located.

Another set of permits has to do with work completed on the west side support facility area, which includes the outbound lot, End-of-Line (EOL) facility, Cyber Tunnel, West Warehouse on Wheels (WOW) Yard and material staging areas. In particular, one new permit stood out, and this was for the EOL - Semi ATLAS Stator. This project involves finishing out a space in the EOL building for a “Semi ATLAS Stator,” which is likely related to Tesla’s Semi truck program, focusing on the stator (a key component of an electric motor). I believe this is for operation and maintenance of Tesla Semi trucks, perhaps finally replacing the diesel transport trucks at some point.

A surprising and interesting set of Permits for the Cathode Plant which were titled “Cathode - New Vehicle Launch Center Phase 3”. This likely involves finishing out a space in the Cathode building for a “New Vehicle Launch Center,” possibly a facility for showcasing, testing, or preparing new vehicle models for launch.

Another set of permits has to do with addition of Stamping Bay 5 HPCS. This project involves work in Stamping Bay 5 (which itself is part of Stamping 2, a complete section of the south end of the factory added in after the original Stamping Press section was completed. The “HPCS” is likely a new High-Pressure Cooling System.

Similar installations are often used in industrial settings for equipment cooling, so this may be related to the cooling pipes we have observed being stored in the east staging yard just north of the parking garage and at the workshops further east, where crews are busy manufacturing more of these large cooling pipes.

Another exciting set of permits has to do with the DIE ship next to the battery cathode plant. Titles “Die Shop - EDM Sinker 2”, where “EDM Sinker 2” refers to a specific piece of equipment referred to as Electrical Discharge Machining Sinker machines. These use an oil bath for the metal parts and the EDM uses precision manufacturing to create complex shapes in metal, often for dies or molds.

This is related to Tesla’s efforts to create an in-house Giga Press DIE manufacturing, testing, repair and fabrication of their own DIEs, saving costs, reducing down-time, and allowing rapid iteration of product designs.

Finally, we cover several permits related to the electrical switchyard expansion and the Megapack #2 installation (aka Battery Electric Storage System, or BESS).
