March Madness on Lake Superior

Although the snow stayed just out of our reach during this storm, the waves were crashing into Lake Superior's North Shore. The sustained winds were around 35 mph at the time of this photo, but the wind gusts were absolutely wicked -- easily 60+ mph! The winds were howling so loud that we seldom heard the thunderous crashes of waves against the rugged shore! The spray from waves was frequent, and quickly froze on us and our gear. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed this quality time with Lake Superior.
