Hosted on November 30, 2021, and moderated by Dr. Michael Gomez, Aligning African Worlds: Climate Change and the Global South, featured Professor Patricia Mbote, Dr. Nnimmo Bassey, and Dr. Ulric Trotz as panelists. The event was a critical discussion of climate change and its impacts on the global south, especially in Africa and the Caribbean. The panelists presented on climate change in their respective regions, as well as on the adaptation and mitigation efforts designed to combat it. They also discussed the role of access to data technology, infrastructure, and climate finance in shaping the efficacy of these efforts. In addition, the panelists discussed the significance of local activism and solidarity movements across regional and national borders, especially among women and youth. They concluded by emphasizing the urgent need to scale and fund climate change resistance efforts in the global south.
