The New Improved Mouse Guard Modification

After losing a couple colonies due to clogged mouse guards that were placed on hives too soon and also damage caused by a mouse and its nest, it was time for a redesign. As you should know by know, I try to be a thrifty beekeeper and look for ways to improve my hive designs that will be beneficial for the future. Well it didn't take long to find what I was looking for and I found some plated steel bar stock at my local Lowes which was the right dimensions, had holes that would allow a drone to pass, and was affordable. 

In this video, I explain what I was using prior for mouse guards and how to replace the old queen excluder with something a bit more durable and lasting.
