Making Candy "Insurance Boards" for 2019
Its that time of the year again. Time to prep the colonies for overwintering. One of the things that I do for all my colonies is to make candy boards using my insurance board feeders. Why let a colony starve overwinter when you can augment them with a large cake of sugar that costs around $4.00 to make. Let's see, spend $4.00 to help save a honeybee colony that would cost around $150-$200 to replace. Not a hard decision there. Take the time and make these for your bees. It can't hurt and in the spring if there is any sugar cake left, you can make your sugar water with it.
