Hans Sitt: Mazurka in E♭ major, Op.12 No.2
Phillip Sear plays a mazurka from 1883 (not 1886 as shown on the video titles) by the Bohemian violinist, violist, conductor, and composer Hans Sitt (1850–1922).
----------------------------------------------------------
Hans (or, more properly Jan Hanuš) Sitt was born in Prague—the son of a prominent violin maker. He studied at the conservatory there, and went on to make an early career as soloist and concertmaster with various European orchestras. From 1884 until his final years, he was professor of violin at the Leipzig conservatory, where Delius was one of his pupils. As a composer, he mainly wrote orchestral works, concertante pieces, chamber music and studies for strings.
